The basics

Is LittleLabel medical advice?

No. LittleLabel provides informational product scores, not medical or safety advice. Always read the label and consult your pediatrician.

Scores are automated estimates from label text, images and public data, and they can be incomplete or wrong. No score means a product is safe or unsafe. If your child has an allergy or a health condition, talk to your pediatrician or allergist before trying a product. In an emergency call 911, or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

What does LittleLabel do?

It reads the label of a baby or toddler product, from a photo or a store link, and gives a 0–100 score for one specific child, based on their age, allergies and conditions. Each score lists the reasons behind it. It also checks U.S. FDA and CPSC recall notices in our database and suggests products that score higher.

What ages is it for?

Children from birth to about 4 years. Age is worked out from the birthdate you enter.

What kinds of products can I scan?

Formula and baby food, snacks, skincare and bath products, diapers and wipes, clothing, nursery gear and toys.

Who is LittleLabel for?

Parents and caregivers aged 18 or over. The app is not meant to be used by children.

Scores and accuracy

How is the score worked out?

An AI model reads the ingredients and materials from the label or product page. Then fixed scoring rules weigh what was found against your child's profile. The "Why" list on each result shows the rules that applied and the points each one moved. See How it works.

Can the score be wrong?

Yes. Labels can be misread, a product can be matched to the wrong listing, online information can be out of date, and formulas change. Always read the physical label before use. If something looks wrong, use "Not right?" on the result.

Will it always catch my child's allergens?

No, and you should not rely on it to. It flags listed allergens it can read, but labels can be incomplete, misread, or change, and "may contain" or cross-contact warnings may not be captured. Read the label every time and follow your allergist's advice.

Does a high score mean a product is safe?

No. A score describes how well a product's label fits the profile you entered, under our rules. It is not a safety rating, certification or endorsement. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and age grading.

Are scores reviewed by doctors?

No. LittleLabel's rules cite public sources such as FDA, CPSC and AAP guidance, but the scores are automated and are not reviewed by doctors or any agency. LittleLabel is not affiliated with or endorsed by those organizations.

How do recall checks work?

We compare products against U.S. FDA and CPSC recall notices in our database. That database can be delayed or incomplete, and we cannot promise to tell you about every recall. Check CPSC.gov, FDA.gov and recalls.gov for official information.

Are the suggested alternatives ads?

No brand pays for a placement or a score. Alternatives are chosen because they score higher for your child. Some store links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Prices and availability can change.
